We have crossed the seas, soared the skies to reach New Zealand. Yet, our culture and our language have remained with us. We seek to promote and co-ordinate Tamil cultural, educational and community activities. Muthtamil Sangam is a non-profit organization devoted to furthering Tamil culture in Auckland region. We are open to all persons interested in promoting the Tamil language and culture.
Muthtamil Sangam has been serving the Tamil speaking community of Auckland for more than 6 years. Our goal is to promote the understanding of our Tamil language and cultural values of India.
We provide a forum for cultural and social interaction with special emphasis on fine arts, literature & performing arts of Tamil speaking people.
Over the last decade, MTS has hosted many cultural events including classical vocal & instrumental music, film/light music, dance, Tamil theater, literary events etc by well renowned local talents. For the last 10 years, we have been conducting classes in Tamil for children in our community.
MTS is devoted to preserve and promote our rich Tamil heritage and to foster understanding, friendship, goodwill and appreciation between Tamil-speaking people. Tamil is one of the oldest languages in the world, with literature books dating back 100 BC, spoken by more than 60 million people in TamilNadu, a state located in the southern region of India.
MTS also strives to raise, solicit, collect, and dispose funds and donations for charities, cultural, educational, and humanitarian purposes, either directly or in cooperation with other registered non-profit organizations in the New Zealand and abroad.
The complete list of objectives for MTS can be found in the MTS Constitution & MTS change of Rules 2011
