Welcome to Tamil School
Vanakkam Members!
There are some gifts we give our children that last for a few years, and there are some gifts that remain with them for a lifetime. The gift of Tamil is one such priceless gift.
For those of us who have made New Zealand our home, Tamil is more than a language. It is the voice of our parents and grandparents, the warmth of our childhood, the beauty of our literature, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the invisible thread that connects our children to generations who came before them. When our children learn Tamil, they do not simply learn to read, write or speak another language; they discover a part of who they are.

It is therefore with immense pride and deep emotion that we share a very special milestone in the journey of Muth Tamil Sangam.
We are honoured to announce that Muth Tamil Sangam has been affiliated with the Tamil Virtual Academy, Government of Tamil Nadu, as its representative in New Zealand.
For an organisation that has spent the past 25 years nurturing Tamil language, culture and identity in New Zealand, this recognition is especially meaningful. It strengthens our ability to carry forward one of our most important responsibilities: ensuring that Tamil does not become merely a language our children hear from their parents, but one they can confidently speak, read, write, understand and proudly pass on to their own children one day.
The Tamil Virtual Academy, functioning under the Government of Tamil Nadu, has created an extraordinary global platform for Tamil learning. Its programmes support diaspora learners through online Tamil education, with 200 contact centres across 42 countries and more than 25,000 students in the current academic year. The Academy’s work extends beyond language courses to Tamil textbooks and supplementary resources, digital learning, cultural promotion, teacher training, Tamil computing tools, and an extensive digital library preserving books, manuscripts and other treasures of Tamil heritage.
Through this proud partnership, Muth Tamil Sangam will help facilitate and support Tamil Virtual Academy learning opportunities across New Zealand. Our hope is to reach not only children, but also youth, adults and seniors. Perhaps you never had the opportunity to formally learn Tamil. Perhaps your children understand Tamil but hesitate to speak it. Perhaps they can speak but cannot read or write. Perhaps, after many years away from our homeland, you simply wish to reconnect with the language that still lives quietly in your heart.
This opportunity is for all of you.
We are especially pleased that our Tamil School Coordinator, Mr Senthil Nathan Natarajan, will lead this important initiative on behalf of Muth Tamil Sangam. Over the coming weeks, he will provide further guidance on available courses, levels, enrolment procedures and commencement details, and will assist interested learners and families through the process. Senthil will also share more about this exciting new chapter during Muth Tamil Sangam’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, and we warmly encourage our members and families to join us on this very special occasion as we celebrate our journey, our language and the future we are building together. Please check the brochure (download links below) and scan the QR code and book your tickets early. we look forward to receiving you all at our 25th year celebration .

As we celebrate 25 years of Muth Tamil Sangam, we believe there can be no greater tribute to those who built this organisation than to ensure that the language they loved continues to live in the voices of our future generations.
One day, our children may not remember every event we organised or every celebration we held. But if we give them The Tamil Language we give them a connection to their roots that can remain with them wherever life takes them.
Kind regards
